Gathering Information
Pre-Appointment Communication: Our veterinarian will reach out to gather important details about you and your pet. This information helps us tailor the appointment to meet your wishes and your pet’s needs.
Managing Anxiety or Aggression
Pre-Euthanasia Consultation: If your pet is particularly anxious or aggressive, we may recommend a pre-euthanasia appointment to prescribe oral sedatives. These should be given at specific times prior to our arrival to help your pet feel more relaxed.
Scheduling
Arrival Window: We will provide a time window for our vet's arrival. To create a calm environment, consider placing a "Do Not Disturb" sign on your front door.

Duration
Appointment Length: Our appointments typically last around an hour. This time allows us to discuss the process and address any questions you may have. It also gives you the opportunity to say goodbye while the medications we administer take effect, ensuring your pet passes peacefully. Our appointments are limited to 90 minutes which provide an unhurried moment to honour your pet's life. If you have any doubts, we can shift the focus to an end-of-life consultation to discuss your pet’s quality of life.
Sedation Process
Administering Sedation: We will begin by giving a sedative injection tailored to your pet's needs, designed to alleviate pain and anxiety. Your pet should start to feel sleepy within 30 minutes, allowing you to spend quality time with them as they relax. Many pets require a second injection, particularly if they are energetic or emotional.
Final Injection
The Euthanasia Process: Once your pet is peacefully asleep and unaware of their surroundings, we will administer the final injection. Depending on your pet's size and condition, this will be given either into a vein or into an internal organ. This process is painless, and your pet will pass away peacefully, typically within two minutes.

Privacy and Care
Time for Goodbyes: After the appointment, we will give you privacy to say your final goodbyes. If you have chosen our aftercare services, we will respectfully move your pet to our vehicle when you are ready.
Assistance with Larger Pets
Handling Larger Pets: If your pet weighs more than 15 kg, we may require assistance in lifting them. Please let us know prior to the appointment if you will need extra help so we can bring someone along.
Aftercare Options
Cremation Services: If you have opted for individual cremation, your pet’s ashes will be personally delivered back to your home, typically within two weeks of the appointment. Rest assured, your pet will be treated with the utmost dignity and respect throughout the entire process.
